A studio built around one material.

Story
Bato began with a love of clay and the ceramic traditions of the Balkans. What started as a personal practice turned into a studio making objects meant to be used every day.
We work in limited runs so each piece gets attention. The marks of the making stay visible, and that is the point.
Process
- 01
Design
Each piece starts as a sketch, drawn from everyday use and local form.
- 02
Shaping
Thrown on the wheel or hand-built, depending on what the form needs.
- 03
Glazing
Food-safe glazes, mixed and tested in the studio.
- 04
Firing
Fired in small batches, which is where the final surface appears.
What the studio holds to.
- Handmade
- Every piece shaped by hand, start to finish.
- Small batch
- Limited runs instead of production volume.
- Local material
- Clay and glaze sourced as close as possible.
- Slow craft
- The process sets the pace, not the calendar.
